Agustín Zabalua and Alejandro Foglia train in Valencia with strong breeze and three-meter waves

The 2012 winter training  season of the Dinghy Academy started with a bang in Valencia on Monday. Alejandro Foglia from Uruguay, eighth in the Laser class in the 2012 Olympics, and Agustín Zabalua from Argentina took to the waters of Valencia’s Yacht Club under tough and challenging conditions. The two sailors, under the guidance of coach Luca Devoti, carried out a complete training session that lasted more than three hours with a fresh breeze that topped 20 knots and waves up to 3 meters.

Once ashore, an exhilarated and exhausted Foflia commented on his first ever sail with a Finn: “It’s divine but much harder and tougher than the Laser”. Starting tomorrow, the two Olympic sailors will be joined by Sweden’s Max Salminen, Gold medalist in the Star class at the 2012 Olympics, and Slovenia’s Vasilij Zbogar, two-time Olympic medalist in the Laser class.
